Maybe not 4% but they will be deterred by forced Pelosi care.

Baron, you talk about a world you'd like us all to live in. That word doesn't exist.

Better to understand that, prepare for it, and deal with it, than to lament it.

And, for every solution to the problems you have offered over a number of threads, I (or more precisely doctorquant) can point out the flaws -- the unintended consequences.

We live in a global economy. If we're going to make our fight about labor costs, we're going to lose.

No, in the main you are right about that ... but that is not the argument that is being made. The argument is that, in aggregate, entrepreneurial activity is sensitive to the tax/regulatory regime.

In other words, if we're going to be raped, we may as well just lay back and enjoy it, right?

Please tell me you are not a journalist. A journalist pushing for the "fairness" doctrine? Are you fucking kidding me? You should be ashamed of yourself. What's next, nationalize newspapers?

That's silly. Any response I could make that would follow along with your analogy would only serve to give credence to an offensive comment.

Meanwhile, John Kerry is calling for just the opposite:

"And I have to tell you, I say this to you politely. The media in America has a bigger responsibility than it's exercising today. The media has got to begin to not give equal time or equal balance to an absolutely absurd notion just because somebody asserts it or simply because somebody says something which everybody knows is not factual."

"It doesn't deserve the same credit as a legitimate idea about what you do. And the problem is everything is put into this tit-for-tat equal battle and America is losing any sense of what's real, of who's accountable, of who is not accountable, of who's real, who isn't, who's serious, who isn't?"

Hong Kong down nearly 4 percent. Nikkei down 1.3 percent, Shanghai off 2 percent.

Another false equivalence: the Fairness Doctrine and nationalized newspapers.

I'm surprised that YF and others are not ripping Kerry for censorship, because he's saying that the Tea Party isn't worth covering because of their constant distortion or lies.

S&P 500 futures off more than 2 percent.

Gold flirting with $1700 an ounce, up more than $47 an ounce since opening. Ridiculous.

I don't invest in equities, but if I did, right now is when I'd be looking to selectively go bargain hunting. It won't get any better than during the next 48 hours or so. This is a major overreaction.

And just think if the S&P acted on late Thursday afternoon instead of late Friday afternoon. Panic is setting in.

Oil futures below $84 a barrel. Off 3 percent.
