And here's the thing, in any negotiation, the party that is willing to walk away from a deal is the party that has more leverage.

Like it or not, the Republicans are willing to walk away from a deal. And the Dems keep chasing after them.

A number of Republicans are willing to drive the car off the cliff. The Dems aren't.

So tell me, who's going to get a better deal?

If only we could look to Plato for an answer.

Back to the 14th Amendment card...if Obama went this route it would be suicide. I am not saying he doesn't have the stones to go this route, but that he is too smart to cut his own throat like this. The Republicans would point out that this was an end run around Congress and frame the debate as Obama being so addicted to government spending that he took this unprescedented step. It would be a disaster for Obama.

Oh, and before I forget, put me in the camp that finds the use of the word retard -- or a variation of it -- to be offensive.

Thank you. You're wrong nearly all of the time, but when you're right, you're right. This is exactly so.

He perjured himself as The President of The United States.

    Over a blowjob.

It's not like he was trying to subvert the electoral process by covering up a blatantly criminal activity like breaking into the opposing party's headquarters, or something like that.

Again, Obama is going to have to do something extremely serious, not just ambiguously illegal for an impeachment. Something that the American public will understand that has a direct impact on their lives. The GOP wasted that card on Clinton.

This is what would happen if the GOP impeached Obama in, say 2013:

Dems: They're trying to subvert the electoral process!

GOP: He was ignoring us in the House!

Who do you think the American public will take more seriously?

Of course, the GOP won't let the facts get in the way of that argument either. ::)

One thing our current situation proves is that the Laffer Curve is a complete and utter joke. Yet, it is still being used by the Tea Party as part of its rationale. How can you look at the evidence and still use the Laffer curve as the basis for any economic argument?

Edit to say: I shouldn't just blast the Laffer Curve. As a concept, it's very intuitive. It's just the conservative estimation of where the Laffer curve peaks that is utter bullshit, as the Bush cuts and ensuing decline in revenue show.

I don't think this is news. I know I said it somewhere prior on this thread.
