Chuck Todd just showed a clip from Chuck Schumer appearing on Morning Joe this morning and then commented on it:

Dems are in full retreat and full meltdown.

Should I still be pissed at the "Tea Party"?

. . . while the contingent who provoked the meltdown has largely gotten away scott-free (GS and their ilk, and the banks) . . . and they act as if they're above anything resembling "shared sacrifice" . . . who's kidding who?

    Town Hall! Red States!

    Lots of navel-gazing nose-pickers to choose from . . .

Presented with a mountain of evidence to the contrary, you go into ignore mode and toss slogans.

That's OK though. That's what makes you a tea...partier (won't pull out the "b" word that offends you so much ::) )

I'm not debating your message when I say this: Chuck Todd is the Peter Principle personified. Great at doing polling and analysis, awful as his hairpiece as an actual correspondent.

Indeed, no bargain. He's happy to be there . . .

Chuck was better as an analyst, but I find him ok as a reporter.

He's actually become less reliant on facts as a reporter. He also doesn't realize that he's not reading polling tea leaves anymore, so it's not about which party "wins" or "loses." Just cover the damn story.

You, sir, crack me up. I appreciate the kind gesture :)

I do find your mountains of evidence debatable, however.

Way to add to the conversation, boys.

    That's every reporter.

They all lament how uninformed readers/viewers/voters are on the issues.

But, they'd much rather cover the horse race than the issues.

Oh, they know they're about to go off of the cliff. But they're so beholden to their "principles" that they'd rather die (in the political and financial sense, of course) than concede to the opposition. If the worst happens and their fortunes and political careers go down in flames as a result, they believe they'll be martyrs for their cause.
