It's time for Boehner to take those who aren't on the extreme wing of the GOP and work with Democrats on a bill that'll work. It may cause him his job as speaker, but fuck it. Man up and do what's right for the country, not what's perceived to be right for your party or your paycheck.

Well, I suppose the fear is that it gives the "Reid Plan" an advantage if the "Boehner Plan" can't pass.

Some reporter on MSNBC was just breathlessly reporting that Reid now had an advantage and was going to "move forward" with his bill.

Reid needs 60 votes to move anything. Unless the GOP Senators completely fall apart (and Joe Manchin, Dem Senator of West Virginia has already said he won't support the Reid Plan), I don't see where this goes anywhere.

That's the thing, Headbutt. Boehner's already done. Cantor basically slit his throat yesterday. So now what? Speaker Cantor? God help us all.

He's only a vote or two short of passing his bill in the House -- and that's with no Democrat party support.

So, the extremists are down to only around 25 Republicans, not the 85+.

All you need is a couple of Dems to vote with Boehner and something could get done.

Over 60 "Tea Party" Republicans are now willing to compromise and vote with Boehner.

But not one Democrat will break with their party.

Now, tell me which party is extreme.

I see YankeeFan is using the standard tea bagger method of repeating a lie until it becomes the truth.

Boehner's plan is not a compromise. It is 100 percent total victory for the GOP. 100 percent. That is not a compromise.

Do I need to post a dictionary definition of the word compromise?

Let's be honest. The Boehner plan does very little to cut spending or actually reduce the deficit.

It cuts, what, $850B -- over 10 years. In return, the Government borrows an equal amount (roughly) of money it will spend in the next 6 months.

In the first year, it saves something like $1B. That's nothing.

Even the "cuts" over 10 years aren't real cuts. They're only cuts in the planned growth of spending.

All it does is slow spending. Barely. The cuts are only against "baseline budgeting".

The Dems could embrace the "Boehner Plan" and walk away laughing, knowing they've give the Republicans a victory in name only.

But just the appearance, the thought, of cuts is unacceptable to Democrats.

I'm pretty sure you realize that's bullshit, but just in case you don't ...

The Reid plan is filled with cuts. Filled. $2.2 trillion over 10 years.

The CBO said Reid's plan cuts more than Boehner's.
