Amen. And to build on Parker's point, why not accept victory and prepare for the next battle? Why try to win the war in one punch? As bad as Obama has screwed up the negotiation, the GOP may have tripped and fumbled on the way to the end zone.

    Disagreeing with them is fine.

This column is a joke. She might as well have just gone and called the Hobbits.

I thought David Brooks was liberals' favorite conservative?

Why not try to win the war in one punch. Sometimes you don't get a second chance.

And, again, the "Tea Party" are the only ones willing to let the debt ceiling expire. So, why should they compromise? The "worst case scenario" doesn't scare them.

The Dems have warned of dire consequences if the debt ceiling is not raised. So, by not accepting the "Boehner Deal", they're saying that it is even worse than letting the debt ceiling run out.

Is that true? The "Boehner Plan" is that bad? Worse than going off the cliff?

Because if your four-year old thinks it's okay to drive his tricycle onto an interstate highway, you still don't let him do it no matter how much he screams.

That doesn't answer the question of why the Tea Party should compromise.

Wow. That is really a thin skinned way to look at it. You have a chance to win a huge political victory for your movement and build off it, yet you think they should go for the coup de grace now because they may never get another chance? To think that way at this stage, you have to think you are simply in a movement's 15 minutes and aren't something that has any staying power.

They have as much leverage now as they'll ever have.
