    That's a much better example. But he (and a few others I've read) seem less concerned with the fact that she's attempting it than when they tried it.

    Yeah, there was. I remember reading some experts questioning whether a 13-year-old had the judgment and reflexes to handle the toughest parts of Everest, and there were questions about whether he had enough lung capacity to handle the thin air. Then there was something my girlfriend showed me, which speculated about possible lung damage to a kid that young with that sudden a change in altitude, because your lungs are still developing up until a certain age.

    I'd be willing to bet that many, many more kids died last year playing high school football than were lost in "riskier" activities.

    And yet this continues as the stupidest thread in the history of message boards.
