Just checked, myself. Good to hear. I was certain I'd seen an obit, and NOT recently.

Would Krakauer's book on Tillman qualify for a sports book?
If so, that has to be among the top-five. Shook my belief in our military and institutions.

I don't know if any of you follow Buzz on twitter, but the man has completely lost his mind tonight.

If you like long-form "fly on the wall" non-fiction you should check out some of Tracy Kidder's stuff.

Are any of the losasauruses here? I'd look in the BYU thread for starters.

Buzz came to our city for a book discussion event related to "Friday Night Lights" a couple of years ago — the book was selected because of the popularity of the movie and ensuing television show.

According to several committee members I spoke with, he is as crazy as a shithouse rat.

Which, if you've met the guy, is really just a way of saying he gets away with being antisocial because he wrote a couple very good books once. He's not the first author to fall into that black hole, God knows. Ever been to a reading where the guy stumbled in with four-day beard and the breath of moldy bread, like he'd just been smoking crack for several days? I have.
