By far the best work of a screen actor's life

But Bull Durham is at least tap-in close to it.

And I love Bull Durham . . . but KC in Tin Cup is ALL OVER IT.

I'm a big fan of that movie -- I loved the way the fight scenes were shot and edited.

But Craig Bierko as Max Baer stole the film... Crowe simply did a fine job.

That'll do. Or not. I thought he was better in L.A. Confidential (and I thought Crowe was at his best in that).

Rob Brown and Ice Cube: OK
Matthew Broderick: Did better work in The Cable Guy or even Ferris.
Whoopi: Won an Oscar for Ghost
Jeff Daniels: Work in The Squid and the Whale is his best. Also good in Pleasantville.
Joe Pesci: C'mon. You said it yourself, Goodfellas.

I juat watched this today ... and I was stunned at how good the Max Baer character was.
    Crowe always seems to deliver.

Too bad Howard demonized the Baer character, for effect.

I have little doubt that MB lost to Braddock because he didn't take him seriously, and he didn't train nearly as strenuously
    as he should have.

That shouldn't translate into Baer being an asshole.

Agree that Bierko did a good job. After all, he was only following Howard's orders on how to approach his role . . . .

No way - his role as Stretch Cunningham was his signiture piece

    How about Vincent D'Onofrio?

Private Pyle, of course, but I'm also partial to his throwaway as Orson Welles in Ed Wood.

    Sirs, Madames,

Supporting, your occasional and character actors:

Mac Davis was never better than in North Dallas Forty.
Dean Stockwell in Married to the Mob. (Tho' I loved him as a bit player in Columbo.)
    Gary Busey as Buddy Holly.
George Kennedy in Cool Hand Luke.
Lee J Cobb in On the Waterfront.
    Fred Forrest in Apocalypse Now.

Many might presume Peter Fonda in Easy Rider, but no, far better (far, far, far) in Ulee's Gold and The Limey. Shame ER overshadows the other stuff.

    YHS, etc
