Fired? Maybe, maybe not ... but putting out her apology in a tweet was not the way to go ... to his credit, Cam did it the right way ... from all accounts, it was unscripted (and having viewed it, can believe that) ... if he had gone the "tweeted an apology" route, how many would have come down on him even harder than before?

As always, the idea that someone is "a racist" or not is meaningless and self-serving (it's mostly employed by people who want to draw a line so that they can feel comfortable knowing they are on the right side of it rather than examine themselves).

Everyone is racist. Our society shapes us, and it is racist.

This youngster totally understood the term and had given it measured thought.

I agree with you. Fired, maybe or maybe not. Cam's tweet was definitely genuine and unscripted. You can see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice. The tweet by the paper was a joke. People here would have ripped Cam a new one had he pulled that shit.

So essentially, she's now unemployable for the rest of her career because she will always come with the stigma of supporting racism? No matter if it's the Charlotte Observer or the local McDonalds.....

Cam's tweet video was a joke. If he wants to make a "genuine" apology, he can do it in a public setting and not by staring into a lens.

I'd like to think Cam's apology was real and genuine, but when he then skips mandatory media time as soon as she returns, it makes me skeptical.

I thought it was real. Looked real to me.

I'm sure she could get a job washing dishes at a Luby's.

Wonder what's going on at the Observer.

She's back on the job and is covering the Panthers, but hasn't Tweeted since Oct. 6 and has even removed (or at least unpinned) her apology.

So she isn't tweeting out links to her work, but the main Observer account is.

Doc, I disagree. The reporter did not commit a terrible act. She tweeted in college and nobody even knows if she was being sarcastic. I wish Jourdan well.

It's fine to disagree. She did it three times over a three-year period in college. To me, that's different than a one-time deal. And when exactly is she an adult? Once she enters the job market? So things you do in college don't count? I think her behavior represents a pattern and in no way do I believe she was being sarcastic. She was indulging her father's racist behavior and laughing along with it. Terrible act? Condoning racism, which is what she did publicly, seems like a terrible act to me. But, it's fine to disagree Frederick. I don't expect everyone to see it my way.
