I do hope we've hit a new level where every coach and player who belittles a journalist is called out. Journos aren't there to be someone's punchline or punching bag. And it works both ways - there are a lot of journos who could treat players and coaches better.

 

She was on a college beat, her first job out of school, for a year. There are college and NFL writers who've been killing it a lot longer.

Get out of here with the notion that anyone who does "damn good work" on a college beat is entitled to a move up. This industry is full of talented folks who bust their ass and produce stand out work every day.
