Can somebody explain to me the Springsteen popularity?

The live REO album is great. My complaint with it is the mix. Needs to be remastered. I'd crank it on my trips during my road warrior days. Love the opening to Golden Country.

An old neighbor of mine was in one of the Up With People touring groups.

She is exactly as you would think she would be.

I know it always confuses you to bring facts into the equation but Paul McCartney, Prince, Tom Petty, the Stones and U2 have a bone to pick with you.

Once again, KISS, Rush and Genesis are on the outside looking in.

Bruce Springsteen has been a major recording artist for 35 years.

At this point, if you don't get it, you don't get it.

But this continual pseudo-critical pretentiousness-elitism equating commercial success with "selling out" or artistic worthlessness is bullshit.

Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys, Coldplay, Def Leppard and Journey are not shit because they are/were popular; they're shit because they were shit to start out with. And once again, let's remember that the most artistically influential and creative group in rock history was also the most popular.

Interviewer: "Will you sing for us?"
John Lennon: "No, we need money first."

    The Beatles are overrated, too.

    Everyone's entitled to their opinion.

I can have my opinion, and you can be wrong. ;)

Starman, I agree with your observations about commercial success and sucky artists just sucking. But the Lennon thing would make more sense if you had a quote of him agreeing to record a crappy song to sell more albums.

Even in Beethoven's day, you waited for the check to clear before actually performing. Few people have ever equated that with "selling out."

I was in Branson years ago on business and I bought a Wayne Newton pen at the theater he had there. Has Waynes's smiling face on it. I love it.
