There was a way to deal with this without taking rightous indignation to Def Com: Nancy Grace.
They could have taken the highest road and especially on Easter Weekend. They could have said that Don Imus doesn't have the ability to hurt them, rather they feel sorry for him. A meeting is not necessary, if he didn't want to know us before he cursed us, there's no reason now. We'll go on with our lives and it's up to CBS and NBC to determine whether he'c the kind of person that deserves to be their employee.

They publicly could have turned the other cheek. They made themselves into a victim, they needn't have done that.

I think you're reaching here, Luggy. What Imus said takes the kind of tortured logic you've (ironically) displayed to defend. What Packer said, what I heard him say, is linguistically defensible.

While both guys are well past deserving defending, if what Packer said is a 9 on the offensive chart, Imus is off the chart and over the hill.

Imus took a needless, cheap shot at a women's basketball team in a misguided attempt at humor. He did not condemn an entire race of people, as Al Sharpton and others have accused him of doing. There is a huge difference.

The breathless, round-the-clock coverage this story is getting from the national media is absurd. He made a mistake and apologized for it. Thursday, Friday and again on Monday. And I think Stringer is being disingenuous when she says her players have been scarred for life. If their skin is that thin .. wow.

Fair enough. What percentage of Americans do you think were appalled by the comments?

So, just to make sure I understand; any radio personality who calls a woman a whore should be immediately fired?

I'll start keeping track and notify the appropriate authorities in charge to make sure this happens.

  6. Black people insulted by white people should be above the whole thing so that other white people will feel better about themselves.
The primary function of black people in this society is to be there so that good white people can feel superior to bad white people.
    Yeesh.

True dat. There's so many other things too. Here's an example:
If a guy has 2 girlfriends at the same time, he's a stud.
If a women has 2 boyfriends at the same time, she's a ho.

They didn't turn themselves into victims. Imus attacked them for NO reason. I guess they should have just taken it. I mean, who do they think they are. Buncha dumb women who don't know their place in the world.

At least 90% of those aware of them. How many people you have discussed this with have said, "What's the big deal about a little joke? Who cares?" I know some pretty insensitive people, and I have yet to hear any such take from anyone.

You know, Kirk, that might be a good start toward restoring a little civility to our language and what the kids in this country hear.

For close to a week, the RU women said nothing about Don Imus. In a press conference, they were asked about their feelings following his ignorant, hateful and disgusting comments. They should not have expressed how they felt about his words?

Obviously not, HB. They made the poor white men of the world uncomfortable, and we can't have that.
