Can we talk about Imus like adults?

Your interpretation of what's going on at Rutgers is bullshit contrarianism for the sake of it -- or else I'd have to point out that you talking about anyone else's alleged penchant for self-promotion and self-aggrandizement is one of the funniest things that ever hit this board.

A whole 'nother thread could be started on why this 'perfect storm' came down on Imus.

Call Roseanne Barr or Nancy Grace or Ann Coulter a 'ho' on the radio, and nobody bats an eyelash.

But there was something about this. Something about the Rutgers women not putting themselves out there -- all they were doing was playing basketball. They did nothing to bring it on. I think that resonates, and is why it became what it did.

    Fenian's got this thing nailed.

And Don Imus learned his lesson. He said so on Rev. Al Sharpton's radio show.

I have heard many people say "it was a fucking joke. And they did look like ho's". Again that was not me saying it but I have spoken to very few people that got to worked up by the comments.

Actually. Lugs, here's what it all came down on Imus:

"These aren't political figures. These aren't professionals. These are 18-, 19-, 20-year-old young women."

They did and there's nothing wrong with that. But that wasn't the only response available. All I'm suggesting is that rather than get indiginant and make every woman in America a victim of Imus' irrationality, they could have chosen another avenue.
They could have rejected victimization and They could have loved their enemy.

How, Badger, did they look like whores? Because most of them were black?

Maybe I'm stupid, but what exactly do ho's look like? Do they walk around with a neon billboard that says, "Hey, I'm a ho!"?

From what I saw, the Rutgers women's basketball team looked like 19-to-22 year old women.

That would have made everybody comfortable, Yab, and I, for one, am glad they chose to make folks like you uncomfortable for once.

    Right. I mean, kids, really.

Badger: How many of your friends are black women? Just askin'.
