Can we talk about Imus like adults?

... and with that Imus is off of MSNBC.

Topic number one on Les Moonves' agenda in the CBS boardroom. Imus doesn't have Mel Karmazian or Joel Hollander to back him up anymore, and if the client/sponsors and ad agencies say they are pulling out for good, not just a cooling off period, Imus is gone.

Can somebody explain this to me: Imus gets a two-week suspension, but it doesn't start until next week?
What, he was bad enough to get suspended but not bad enough to take off the air immediately?
This couldn't have anything do to with getting a week of big ratings first, could it?
    Just wonderin'.

I disagree. If a well-paid radio host can't do better than calling college basketball players nappy headed hos as a joke, I wouldn't want him on the air.

I'd rather get someone who's actually funny or insightful.

Name calling isn't funny, and even insult humor works best when it's turned inward. Imus is a gravelly voiced anachronism who thinks being an equal-opportunity offender translates to compelling radio. Good riddance.

You disagree that we're turning into a weak, whiny country?

    Really??

Yep. Not necessarily because of Imus, but yes, I agree.

Everybody must be self-righteous. Everybody must be the all-mighty perfect person. Everybody must impose their unflappable belief that everybody else must live in an anticeptic bottle where you better not say or do the smidgenest of inappropriate lest getting the punishment of a cock in the ass.

I disagree this is an example of becoming a weak, whiny country.

    Who's "buckling"?

When the advertisers bailed, the network bailed.

Good old American capitalism. Nothing wrong with that.
