I think that was one of the questions someone started asking when the governor shut them down.

Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., also vowed to push for answers.

“I wish I understood why bad things happen to good people,”
he said. “If I make it to heaven, I’m gonna ask.”

LOL, h'yuk-yuk-yuk-yuk-yuk. Get your corn-pone, hayseed grandstanding outta there, Gomer. This is serious adulting stuff, not an audition for "The Andy Griffith Movie." So fuck off, ya backwater dickweed.

Totally agree,. I'm guessing what happens is these types win primaries in red states by being the biggest jackass, win a plurality of 28 percent or so in a loaded primary and just keep up the act.

Just think if they hadn’t caught the guy in Virginia who had the arsenal to make this and Vegas look like patty cake.

We collectively decided the social contract is no longer worth maintaining. And sure enough here comes water seeping out of the dam.

He got a grad degree from fucking Oxford. It's all a complete fraud, because he knows as long as there's an R by his name. his voters won't care he loathes and despises them. He's an ass, but they're the marks. They don't even see the con.

With all due respect, that claim is not exclusive to conservative politicians. It generally applies to politicians of all stripes.
Now let's please not let this thread slide too far down the slope into "Your side sucks! NO, YOUR SIDE SUCKS!" territory.

It certainly leans to the conservative side these days. Show me a Chuck Percy in the Senate.

I will see if I can better explain using my senators as examples.

Strip off the varnish and Katie Britt and Tommy Tuberville are pretty much the same ideologically. Occasionally I like to think that Britt doesn’t mean all the harsh things she says but is going with the flow to stay in office and get something done. That’s probably me being wishful more than reality, but she does actually put in work, owing to her roots as a Chamber of Commerce Republican. Conservative, but with a purpose of wanting to shape policy and help her state.

Tommy Tuberville is government by meme. He absolutely would have gone off half-cocked at a press conference and picked an unnecessary fight the way you described. Back in Washington, he regards his most important job as getting Fox News interviews and sound bites. The people on the ground here trying to do economic development work mostly have to hope the can get everything done through Britt.

You’re a conservative. You tell me which one is more likely to pull off the things you want to see done from government?

My point was, I'm hoping we can keep this thread as apolitical as possible since it's a big news story. It seemed to be sliding the other way the last page or two.

Names of some of the victims are being released. One was a former football player at Princeton.
