WFNX, an alternative station with poor reception. It shut down about 15 years ago when the owner's weekly alternative paper failed.

One day in 2021, I was shoveling snow while listening to this channel. And it just happened to be the September 14, 1985 episode -- the one with the dog dedication. "Dare Me" by the Pointer Sisters led into it. Hearing this out of the blue was "like discovering plutonium by accident," in the parlance of George Costanza.

For top 40 it was 94.1 B-94 (I think the call letters were WBZZ).
For rock it was, and still is, 102.5 WDVE.

Later in life (20s) I was listening to DC 101, pre Greaseman.

Later, KFMZ before it abruptly left the air.

Later still, KBXR when it was AAA before being bought by one of the two conglomerates.

There are some good public radio stations for alternative music or Americana.

The Whip (WWHP) in countryside Illinois streams and is over the air. You can contact them to request Guy Clark's Texas Cookin' and they'll play it for you.
