Except, Nebraska has recruited pretty well, at least when compared to the two schools I mentioned. I utilized them, due to their level of success vs. the level of their resources.

Last 4 classes: Nebraska 19,49,11,34. Couple of middling classes, couple of top 20's.

Baylor 52,30,26,23. Obviously improving, but only one Top 25 group, in 2014.

TCU 28,38,43,38. Not much to brag about.

However, they both found guys who can simply coach the crap out of a football team. Nebraska will never be the Nebraska of 'yore. With a great hire, and they certainly have the coin to make one, they can be a hella lot better than they are now.

If you are a kid West of the Mississippi and you have your pick of going to X Big 10 school, X Big 12 school or X Pac 12 school, my first pick isn't the Big 10.

Nebraska's roster has just 12 players from California or Texas - figure a lot of parents don't want to travel that far to see their kids play.

The complete ineptitude against the Badgers probably hurt as much as his jackassery.

With UAB apparently shutting it down, Bill Clark's going to be a hot name for someone like Kansas (or at least he should be).

Back them they thought they could have it all. There’s been a bit of humbling up there since.

Regarding Nebraska ... any reason it wouldn't be Scott Frost?

Maybe they should bring Solich back.

Of course, Solich is 70 now, so what's lost will remain lost.

Just read Nebraska hasn't hired someone with college head coaching experience since Devaney.

    Auburn DC Ellis Johnson fired:

Wasn't just the Iron Bowl, though that surely clinched it. Auburn allowed 31-plus points in its last 6 SEC games.

I've got to think being a DC for an uptempo offensive team is pretty tough. More plays, less time off the field, more opportunities for your players to screw up.
