He's a jackass. After the Baylor game this year, Gundy was gushing about how well his rushing offense did, and a reporter asked him what happened in the third quarter when OSU gained something like 11 yards on the ground. A legit question. Gundy just stared at the guy and then moved on to the next question.

And it seems like he did a pretty good job answering questions from the media people he knows. But he pretty much shut out everyone else. The other guy got the stink-eye; I got a "no comment" to a question, but neither of us cover OSU on a regular basis.

    Still...he's a jackass.

A friend who covers college football said he thinks the "I'm a man, I'm 40!" meltdown is the best thing that ever happened to him because it gives fans, recruits, ADs the notion that he'll do whatever it takes to defend his players.

If he doesn't get the Florida job, and it sounds like he's not in the mix, is he even being mentioned for Michigan or Nebraska? He would seem to be an odd fit at either place.

Hard for Florida to hire a guy who would be coming off what will probably be a 5-7 season that ends with six straight losses. This time last year, they could have hired Gundy, maybe even a year from now, but not now.

There's buzzing among lower and mid-level employees at Kansas that it is in the midst of making a big push for Kill. The AD is out of the office and the rumor is he flew to Minneapolis.

Buuuuut, my guy there tells me it is incredibly out of character for Zenger to be that obvious. Usually there are maybe only two or three people in the entire department who have any idea what's going on when a major decision is being made.

Kill is a great coach, but I would think his health issues would be a big problem for a lot of schools.

I think Minnesota is a better job than Kansas, but that's just me.

Has Jim Leavitt's name been mentioned earlier in the thread regarding Kansas? Maybe I missed it. He's a Missouri grad, though (IIRC).

I'll be curious if he ever gets another college head coaching job. I wonder if he regrets turning down Alabama. :D

That's one of those deals which could turn into a disaster for everyone concerned.

I could see Kill-to-Kansas taking a real bad turn: it takes him several seasons to get the program up on its feet, his health situation flares up, and the Jayhawks big wheels panic fast and dump him.

There was a point last season when they wondered if Kill would even be back because of health reasons. I don't think he's had any issues this year, and hopefully it stays that way. I think he'd be crazy to leave Minnesota. He's done pretty well there and they seem to be very sympathetic to his situation.

Folks who track university airplanes have noted that the Florida jet made a trip to Fort Collins today.
