And Pittiots will scream, "Take him!" Immediately forgetting who is doing the coaching search again....

Since technically, Florida "only" paid $5 million for McElwain's buyout, is that still the most any school has paid another school to get its coach? I know Michigan paid $4 million for RichRod.

    Colorado State claims it was:

Texas paid $4.3 million for Strong, I believe.

Been reading the same thing on a number of tOSU sites. If true, will be a huge loss to tOSU for the future

He's the Co-OC, but not the play caller (that's Tom Herman), is the Offensive line coach. He's a spectacular line coach, can develop talent. Three of his OL starters from last season are starting on Sundays this season (a bigger reason for the Va. Tech loss than the QB situation, IMO). Excellent recruiter, as well.

Has a rep as a no-nonsense, hard nosed coach. May have been an issue at KU previously, doesn't seem to bother the players at tOSU.

One thing about Urban, he's got a successful tree.

What a passive-aggressive press release from Colorado State.

Especially the part about McElwain being the only coach to leave CSU for another job. Translation: he's the first to not get fired or have CSU as his last stop.

Yeah, they're also patting themselves excessively on the back for getting that much of the buyout.

Getting it is good, but it seemed a bit strange to read that in the release.

Oregon State should be pretty wide open. It's the only open P5 job open outside of Kansas where there isn't a national championship in recent memory.
They don't need to be shy. If you want to coach in a good conference at a program that isn't a total rebuilt, and not have huge expectations, it's the best job available.
So talk about "connections to the program," successful FCS coaches or keeping it regional is kind of small-minded. Yeah, it's not Nike U, but it's probably at least as good as Arizona was when RichRod took over (if the donors pony up).

It's a great job for an aggressively upward mobile guy who (most important part) is as good as he thinks he is. Considering the wide net Oregon cast to catch Kelly as an assistant, OSU has a model for how to proceed.

Hell, I'd set the over/under at Troy Calhoun of Air Force. He's as close as you're going to get to another Riley. Though a bigger, splashier name would be nice.
