Liked the Bobo hire at Colorado State. I can remember him playing QB at Georgia under Ray Goff in the 1990s. Damn, I'm getting old.

Harbaugh will be in Ann Arbor to ring in the new year. I do wonder where the 49ers will look next. Seems like Greg Roman was a hot prospect the past couple of years. Not sure if that has changed.

I still don't get that hire for him. What's the point of going back to your old alma mater, going 6-5 for 3 years, and getting drummed by Ohio State, therefore tarnishing your golden legacy?

Miles makes more sense to me in Ann Arbor than Harbaugh.

Harbaugh was a stone's throw away from the national championship at Stanford. Stanford! He isn't going 6-5 at Michigan.

The TV guy in Arizona who broke the news of the initial offer says a deal is already done and he'll be announced Tuesday. I don't know how or why that reporter would have a line into it, but he was correct the first time at least.

Harbaugh's not going 6-5. With Michigan's schedule, he'll go 8-4 just by eliminating the ridiculous upset losses Brady Hoke seemed to specialize in.

The talent level isn't bad, the roster is just unbalanced with some gaping holes at key positions, i.e. QB. Presumably Harbaugh will coach up somebody on the present roster to be at least serviceable, and within a season or so, he'll reel in a few superstar QB recruits.

If he goes 8-4 with this schedule next year.......he could run for Governor.

    @ Utah
    vs. Oregon State
    vs. UNLV
    vs. BYU
    @ Maryland
    vs. Northwestern
    vs. Michigan State
    @ Minnesota
    vs. Rutgers
    @ Indiana
    @ Penn State
    vs. Ohio State

There isn't one game on that schedule that Michigan can't win.

The first urge would be to say Ohio State is too far in front. That's probably true. But remember, the first thing Harbaugh did when taking over Stanford was take dead aim at Pete Carroll and USC. There were about a half-dozen boastful challenges that first off-season. And then as a 42-point underdog, Stanford won with Tavita Pritchard at quarterback.

The guy can coach. That gets lost in all the talk of how difficult he is. But he can coach.

There are at least nine wins on that schedule.

The problem is that two of the losses are the two games he has to win.

He also gets the benefit of a fairly soft conference schedule.

    No Wisconsin
    No Nebraska

There's a reasonably decent chance UM could be 6-0 when Sparty rolls into town.

I do believe that Harbaugh can coach -- he's proven it at every level.

Michigan, though, will be his greatest challenge. It is the British Empire of football conferences, where Ohio State is the only national player and Michigan State has solidified a hold on the region also.

If Harbaugh puts forth the Wisconsin-style, beef up front, that could work in Ann Arbor but I don't see him beating Urban Meyer with it more than once every four years.

Michigan was just as big a national player in the past, and there's no reason another good coach won't get the program back there.
