Not so sure ... I thought this passage was pretty over the top:

Yes, this little Culture War flare-up has certainly turned out to be a rallying cry for bigots, hasn't it?

Romenesko boasts plenty of references to precisely this, today.

Eh, I doubt Chick-fil-A will be visibly more or less popular three months from now than it was before this kerfluffle. I care enough not to patronize it anymore, but beyond that it's reached a tipping point of ridiculousness that I suspect will start tapering.

I drove past the one by my office on the way home from work yesterday and there was a line out the door at 2:30 p.m. I live in Phoenix. It was 110 degrees outside. The food is not that good. These are not well people.

I'm curious where it'll be in a year or two. The corporate PR reaction to all the latest controversy actually seemed very weird and inept, and they're fortunate the righties can mobilize independently for stuff like this.

But Mr. Cathy's money goes to organizations that DO want those things. It's not just about marriage.

If you're referencing the lobbying FRC did re: the Ugandan law, you might want to check your facts a bit closer. If that's not what you're talking about, then I'm curious as to how you can truly believe that Cathy, by his contributions, evidences a desire to kill homosexuals simply for their being homosexual. Or, more to the point of my comment re: the article in question, why you consider the charge that Cathy evidences such a desire to be a valid one.

Obama has accomplished some great things during his Presidency but one thing that will ultimately mar his legacy is the cultural divide that he has created that has resulted in events like the Chik-fil-A flair up.

The final fall push to November is going to be ugly.

My apologies ... I focused on the second class citizen comment. I'm sure Mr. Cathy doesn't want to see anyone killed. I do believe, however, that making a class of people 'less worthy' leads to abuses which can result in death, as in the case of Matthew Shepherd.

So, let's be clear here... If you don't join in the boycott of a chicken restaurant, you're a bigot?

How much of the "cultural divide" today is driven by ease of mobilization more than anything else? My own opinion is, a lot. It's so easy to work people into a lather over the latest OUTRAGE OUTRAGE OUTRAGE using Facebook and Twitter in a way I think it unprecedented.

Well, mimes are kind of creepy. And clowns. And women's Olympic gymnastics coaches (not to thread-jack, but does every country in the former Soviet bloc have a gymnastics coach who goes back to her regular job as a prison guard after the Games?)
