Chris Benoit and family found dead

Before people jump all over McMahon about that list, a lot of those wrestlers never worked for McMahon ... and there are quite a few of those listed who died due to car crashes or other non-steroid, non-drug related issues.

Sure, McMahon is an a-hole, but he doesn't deserve the blame for a lot of those deaths (if any at all).

I grew up in the same neighborhood with the family of former Kansas City Chiefs all-pro tackle Jim Tyrer. He was a loving, gentle man (despite his size) and I spent many a night at his house. I went to school with one daughter and one of his sons was one of my best buddies growing up. He watched me play football and gave me a chance to work at their impromptu training camp during the first strike.

The Jim Tyrer I knew was not the same one who snapped up the relentless pressures of several post-career failures.

I'm certainly not defending his actions, or the actions of Benoit if he did indeed murder his wife and child. Just trying to grasp at a possible explanation.

And, yes, I'm sorry for the wikipidiea link. I was just going for a quick, convenient link.

    Bruiser Brody was murdered.

And to what BG said, the wrestling lifestyle is going to chew up and spit out countless people for a variety of reasons. When McMahon's gone, wrestlers will still be dying way too soon.

Maybe, once the autopsies are complete, that Nancy and child were actually spitting up blood because of something they accidently injested or something explainable. Then perhaps Chris came home and, in shock and despair, killed himself. That could possibly tie all this together.
Then again, maybe I'm just grasping at straws because, like Crippler Crossface, I don't want to believe the murder-suicide thing.

I don't feel any different about this than had it been George Brett or Joe Montana. Chris Benoit was one of my favorite athletes/entertainers in the world and I respected him as a performer.

I'm not turning this into a "Chris couldn't have done it because he was such a great guy" argument. I simply state that the Chris Benoit that I've followed would not do such a thing.

That said, we all have a dark side. Some of us just hide it better than others. Hell, I've suffered from major depression -- I'm battling major depression right now. But never in my wildest dreams do I think I'm capable of killing my family. But I'm not on the kind of drugs that Benoit was on (I'm presuming here -- at least high-potency pain killers, and probably steroids).

That said, who knows what your snapping point is? And who knows what you're capable of once you've reached that point of no return? I've feared that point for the better part of 12 years now.

So you are saying that Vince is responsible for every nut job that offs their wife or shoots up roids or kills themselevs, just because he (VKM) was the one that hired said person?
That's taking a lot of personal responsiblity away from the person.

I'm just mad because you know Mushnick and Co. will plaster this as an anti-wrestling story of the "evils of wrasslin" and not focus on the tragedy of a "semi" famous person possibly killing his family.

That's a scary question CC, but one worth asking. Wherever my snapping point might be, I don't want to go there and find out. There but for the grace of God go I - and any one of us pushed to the edge.

I had posted something similar on the Subscribers' Board. I think newspapers aren't using websites in an intelligent manner. Post AP stories on the sites and save the meat-and-potatoes reporting for the newspaper. If everyone's first and everyone's wrong, what the fuck good is it if you're first?

I'm suggesting that the years of drug and physical abuse, due to Vince McMahon's scheduling of shows, has to be factored when one of his wrestlers dies.

What ever happened to "let's wait until the autospies are completed, in which the causes of death will be announced"? Some of us are already calling this guy a murderer, some think there's a conspriacy theory, and others think someone else did it.

I would rather hear what the M.E. says than see who's the first to post something up on the newspaper's website in the pursuit of being "first."

But gee D-3, your approach would be logical, respectful and professional.
Why would you want to do all those things?

Just me, but I buy this. I think by the time the newspaper hits tomorrow morning, most people will know this has happened. As a result, I have no problem with the lede.

The authorities have stated that they are not pursuing anyone, so I don't think an autopsy is neccessary to draw conclusions here.
