Maybe this would be a good question for DocTalk.

How much more would steroids make you rage than heavy lifting without it? It seems like a lot of people I've met who lift to bulk up have this edge about them, like they want to intimidate people and that they might go crazy any second. Meanwhile, most people who run and lift to tone seem like really happy people. I've never understood why any non-professional athlete would want to bulk up, but whatever ... my point is does lifting for bulk raise your natural testosterone and make you a little more edgy? I mean, you can see the guys at the gym who take steroids from a mile away, but most of the guys who are lifting to bulk up look a little odd to me.

Then why don't you fill people in on the strange background of Benoit's wife?

    From the latest AP writethrough...

World Wrestling Entertainment said on its Web site that it asked authorities to check on Benoit and his family after being alerted by friends who received “several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning.”

I wonder what those texts were and if we'll ever find out who got them.

Marrying Kevin Sullivan is strange enough.

Slight threadjack: it was somewhat funny to hear how Edge went to Benoit about a "personal problem" a couple of years ago. Considering they both publicly broke up long relationships (Lita leaving Matt Hardy for Edge, Nancy Sullivan leaving Kevin for Benoit), I'd say that was a good call.

One of the wrestling writers -- either Meltzer or Keller, but I think Meltzer -- said Chavo Guerrero got them.

What about cartoon villians who run big corporations in Cypress Creek and like to use the Doomsday Device?

I am certainly going to be rethinking watching the wrestling matches of yore in terms of the words they used to describe the moves. "There's Chris Benoit with a suicide dive off the top rope."

When Nancy Sullivan became an on-screen performer, she was named Fallen Angel and was part of Sullivan's stable of "Satan-worshipping" wrestlers. Sullivan ran that gimmick in several regional promotions.

There might be something else "strange" about it that I don't know about, but that's what I can remember.

On another note, while steroids might be a culprit in the situation, could his high-impact style have been another contributor? He never really protected himself on those flying headbutts and, in Japan, if you aren't getting dropped on your head, you're taking it easy. After 22 years of trauma to his neck and head, it might have caused something to go wrong.

Did anybody actually run this story in their sports section?

The Toronto Star ran an AP story in Sports.

It ran as about a 4-5 graf item on page 2 briefs in The Freep today.
