Chris Benoit and family found dead

I would probably agree with naysayers had I not been bottle-fed pro wrestling by my mother.

It was the only thing I could stay up late for when I was 6-7 years old.

Of course, I pine for the days of Harley Race, The Funk Brothers, and others when wrestling was about grappling and not gimmicks. The only reason I still watch is my 10-year-old son is into it now.

The only guys I care to watch any more are Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle-types, who still put on a solid performance.

WWE is a huge reason why I'm a bona fide MMA fan now.

 

I'll have to email my friends who work these WWE shows and ask for sure, but in a case like tonight, the majority of the show would originate from WWE's studio in Connecticut. Not hard to run old matches of his that way.
Easy for them to take the setup in the arena and just do leadins and outros and have Stamford run tapes.

 

When I called my older brother, who's still into wrestling unlike myself, he was stunned and totally shocked to hear something like this. Whatever the cause, a man, his wife and their young child were killed.

This sucks.

 

Unfortunately, the USA announcers mentioned the wife and kid, oh, about with 5 minutes left in the show.
Classy.

AP story just moved -- said it's being investigated as a murder-suicide in which Benoit killed his wife and kid over the weekend, then himself Monday. Sorry, no link right now. Also said the bodies were in three different rooms.

 

They were mentioned before a few times.... not sure why they said it at the end like they hadn't talked about it.

Plus, their faces were up on the bottom of the screen several times to alert viewers what was going on.

Wait. So they think he killed them, then went to the WWE site for his Sunday match, then came back home and offed himself?

That would be really fucked up.

 

OK, I take back what I said about it definitely not being roids.

 

He didn't wrestle sunday's PPV.
