I'm with you when it comes to heights.

I wouldn't go within five feet of that floor when I was up. Meanwhile little kids were jumping all over it.

A team of high-angle specialists was hired last night to chip away the ice from the CN Tower that has caused road closings in the area since Monday.

At about 11 p.m., the specialists dangled from the tower's Sky Pod observation level, 447 metres in the air, and inspected the ice.

They then began to carefully and slowly chip away loose portions of frozen ice on the northeast side of the Tower, said Jack Robinson, Chief Operating Officer of the CN Tower.

The loose ice was chipped off in small pieces and removed, leaving some ice. What's left is about one-quarter to one-half-inch thick.

That ice is expected to melt as the temperature rises to 5C by Saturday.

The quiet of late night was chosen for the work because there would be fewer people in the area and cut the risk to the public.

How does one become a specialist in high angles?
