Well, I can count on one hand the number of times I've ordered something from Amazon. I buy most of my books and DVDs from either Borders or Barnes & Noble, at the stores. Which actually employ people. And presumably pay taxes in this state, as they have a physical location. And that Wisconsin teachers union should divest itself of those Koch investments immediately.

I prefer to shop local. After that, I'll try the chains located here. After two strikes, I'll go to the Internet. That's the case for everything I buy.

Being the good conservative that you are, I trust that you don't support the NFL since it's an example of socialism.

I don't understand why running things less efficiently is somehow noble.

"This whole division of labor thing could be the most important economic invention in the history of the world and be instrumental in the creation of the concept of society, but right now everyone has a job making everything for themselves, and we don't want to risk that."

If Amazon runs every bookstore out of business and gives us more efficient book distribution, good. That's how society progresses.

But don't you care about the people who can't afford to shop local?

Offering goods and services for a competitive price is bullshit! Whatever the system is that allows this, I'm appalled.

Oh, yeah . . . the WalMart handoff of considerable possible med expenses, to be sucked out of the public purse . . . classy. Real classy.

No, I didn't say that. I was asked about my shopping habits. I responded. You want to shop at big box stores go right ahead. Hell, the last pistol I bought came from a big box sporting goods store. So I'm not an absolutist.

That said, the prices are comparable if you do your homework. You can buy tomatoes at a farmer's market that are cheaper and better quality than are trucked in from Mexico.

I think it must be exhausting being MITN.

I also don't understand why Walmart's efficiency and size makes them bad.

Who else is bad? Didn't Home Depot put mom & pop out of business? Starbucks (supposedly) put mom & pop out of business. We were all supposed to hate Barnes & Noble and Borders until we didn't anymore and started to lament their closing of stores.

And, while Home Depot was founded with big bucks behind it, all of this fails to remember that Walmart, Borders and Starbucks all started out as mom & pops. Their success shouldn't be why they're hated. They should be admired for it. They are success stories.

If Walmart, Starbucks and others are wrong, I don't want to be right.

And, what other industries and businesses should we protect from competitors who are able to provide goods and services at better prices?

Of course you can because transportation cost is small. Local produce is a poor example.

Yes, I know. I was using it as one example of how people don't have to shop at big box stores to save money.

I would like to shop local, but I can't afford it too often. And around here, it is more expensive. My prescriptions and food are cheaper at Wal-Mart. I would love to shop at "shitty" Whole Foods, but it's not feasible. It's not like Wal-Mart is Candy Land, and I'm shitting gumdrops and sherbert in my excitement to get there. I'd rather not shop in that depressing building.

I understand that I have to acquire a better paying job or be a little more enterprising when it comes to side jobs in order to get ahead in my bank account. It's almost like it's my own responsibility or something if I want to move up in life, economically. Until then, I will continue to save money by shopping at Wal-Mart in order to keep my head above water. Around here, I would be in a lot of trouble financially if the evil corporation (which employs a substantial portion of the population in this town) didn't exist.
