    Not 'socialism'?

    How about 'collusion'?

    'Connivance'?

    'Cahoots'?

    Call it whatever you want.

The NFL is dependent on people's discretionary income. There is plenty of competition for that discretionary income.

The NFL is a a $9 billion business.

It's fair to say that people like the product. They are obviously providing something to that market that meets some demand.

Baron, I would really encourage you to look into taking an economics class or business class at your local community college.

A business class might be especially helpful because they're often taught by someone in -- and feature guest speakers from -- the local business community.

Maybe seeing some real world examples would open your eyes up a little bit.

As it's been pointed out to you, no company can do what you suggest and survive.

Raising labor costs 33% would wipe out all profits. Raising prices to fund the higher labor costs would result in lower sales, which would also wipe out all profits -- and thus the higher paying jobs.

And, if as in your example, everyone made more money and as a result, we all paid higher prices, well, that's no good either. Inflation will negate the higher wages. Your actual buying power has not increased.

I know you mean well, but the entire economy is too interlinked. Walmart does not have a monopoly and can not force people to shop their. It's impossible for you to change one part of the equation without changing the entire equation -- and the result.

You look back in history, and some of the worst governments we have ever had, you know, what was one of the first things they do?

They went after the trade unions. Hitler didn't want unions, Stalin didn't want unions, Mubarak didn't want independent unions. These autocrats in history don’t want independent unions.

I see you're at the old plagiarism thing again.

Funny how that bolded sentence is almost verbatim from Walter Hudson's blog.

In order for people to indulge that discretionary demand, they must have discretionary income. In order to have discretionary income, they must produce something which carries enough value in the market to more than meet their basic needs.

If you are going to post other people's work here, at least have the good grace to attribute it. Not the first time you've been called on this.

The last time you called a poster out for plagiarism, you royally screwed up and didn't even bother to apologize.

Not the first time you've been called on this.

People like porn, too, and illegal drugs. Both of which dwarf NFL football as earners.

Just because something makes a lot of money doesn't mean I forfeit my right to assess the manner in which or by which it's produced, or judge the consequences of its production.

Actually the poster and I sorted it out.

The guy was posting stuff from his own blog and he has since then (at least once, anyway) started his posts with"From my blog...."

This is entirely different. Try and stay awake.

Ragu has been caught doing this before. The most egregious was one of his usual 500 word posts, which, after I read it, thought, "This is too well written for Ragu"

About a five second google search and I found that Ragu had cut and paste an entire WSJ column--99.9% word for word and claimed it as his own

This is a site for journalists. Plagiarism is a cardinal sin.

The socialist NFL is much more dependent upon the billion dollars in tax subsidies it has received for stadium over the last two decades than anything else.

How many union members died so Carnegie could make all those libraries?

How many coolies died so Leland Stanford could create a university?

It's never as simple as it seems.
