That's going to hurt employment figures, being the equivalent to 1,000 full-time jobs and all.

How is Walmart going to be able to provide all of those great jobs and benefits and support the poor with everyday low prices if the damn government is going to gouge them on taxes, too?

Walmart is perhaps the greatest liberal conundrum of the 21st century. Instinctively liberals feel that they need to dislike Walmart but practically speaking they need to shop there to make ends meet.

Not it all. It's a moral obligation.

I guess that's the popular parroted view on What Conservatives Think Liberals Think websites, but it isn't at all true -- for one thing in places like SF, NYC and Portland they can't even get a Wal-Mart built. Say Whole Foods and you'd be onto something.

If we lose the ability to build and contruct things as a country, then we are at the mercy of those countries who build and construct things for us.

I do not agree with a pension plan banckrupting a state, but I also do not agree with pissing on the guy who builds the car, makes the furnature, makes the steel, cuts the wood, teaches a kid, protects our homes from crime and fire and so on. Those are skills, and until we figure out a way for the worker in this country to be able to live a modest life in a home they can buy with health care they can afford, then we as a nation are on a slow road to fucked.

If that means the CEO makes 2.1 million a year instead of 3.9 million a year, then so be it.

I think the "grab all you can" theory was shot to shit when the housing market collapsed.

Or it could just be the money Walmart sucks out of the state tax base.

    Wal-Mart in Wisconsin

    * At least 5 Wal-Mart locations have received subsidies worth about $21.8 million in Wisconsin.
    * At least 2 Wal-Mart locations in Wisconsin have challenged their property tax assessment, recouping about $949,000.
    * Wal-Mart was found to have more workers than any other employer in the state relying on publicly-funded health insurance. This shows how taxpayers end up subsidizing Wal-Mart’s policy of providing low wages and inadequate benefits.
    * Wal-Mart receives about $980,000 a year from a state policy that allows retailers to keep a portion of the sales tax they collect from customers.

OK. So a trillion $ reshuffled, more or less.

But Great Value chocolate marshmallow pinwheels are still just 88¢.

    Scoreboard!

Ahh Whole Foods. You must not have gotten the memo. It's now off the liberal preferred list due to WF's CEO John Mackie's opposition to Obama care and his heretical view of global warming theories.

Young hipsters are behind on that meme. Of course, they don't read the paper, so how would they know?
