It’d be a hell of a thing to ruin a career over. He’s a troll, but it’s lucrative, what he does, and a hoax throws all that away.

 

I wouldn’t think anyone would make that up and would tend to believe them. But he has earned zero benefit of the doubt.

 

Nothing throws it all away for Trumpists. The Saint of Radio, El Rushbo, openly demeaned Black callers and was lionized for it. He lied every day. Trumpists love liars.

 

If Clay was discovered to have made up a threat like that he would be done.

Hey, Clay. I got death threats years ago over a column. In writing and phone calls. There are a lot of messed up people in this country.
