I will be drinking a lot of boat drinks next week to survive that heatwave. And thanking the Lord above for the work of Mr. Carrier.

We just got back from the East Bay, where it was upper 90s all weekend. And yeah, "it's a dry heat" doesn't make it feel any less hot, especially when you're looking at the fire danger that is northern California this summer. I can't remember seeing the hills that brown since the 1977-78 drought.

However, Come Monday ... we went to The City and took a ferry to Tiburon for the day, where the high was 64 and we couldn't see the Golden Gate through the fog. Felt like someone left the refrigerator door open.

One of the few times when I've taken a jacket to San Francisco in July and not actually needed it. The fog hadn't climbed Sutro Tower by the time we left, so Market and Embarcadero were sun-splotched.

It’s not so much the heat as the incessant wind that is the problem there. At least the two times I did it.

That same model differs little 48 hours out. The core of the heat if anything has shifted southward. It's saying 111ºF at DFW Airport, a significant spike. That would exceed the all-time July record of 110ºF set twice in 1980 and once in 1998.

The official NWS forecast for Tuesday is "only" 107ºF. So we'll see.

    Luton. Shite town. Shite footballers.

Being in London when it was 91 was miserable enough. Add 10 degrees to it and I have to imagine it's close to hell on earth, with really not many places to hide in the AC.
