I hate the hood latch on my new washer. It makes it a pain in the ass to add softener. If you catch it just right, you can hit the pause, and it will unlatch. If not, it's a whole process to stop it, and get it back on rinse.

I don't think it does, either that or we're just old enough that opening the lid and pouring it in when the rinse cycle starts is engrained in us.
Don't bother asking me what brand it is. Because just like when my sister-in-law asked, I'll answer, "white."

You fellas still using leaded gas? How about lead-based paint? Asbestos? CFCs?

That's how my wife distinguishes cars.

Me: "That's a really nice (silver) BMW."
Her: "I like the blue (Hyundai Sonata) car better."

It took more than 70 years after the hazards were legitimately known for leaded gasoline to be banned.

A century of tragedy: How the car and gas industry knew about the health risks of leaded fuel but sold it for 100 years anyway

Of course not. But it wasn't a super good idea to have built these homes there in the first place.

Especially when we're all splitting the cost of insuring them.

Also worth noting on a climate thread that for all the optimism about growing pineapples in Siberia next year, sea level rise is going to destroy a lotta pre-existing stuff at a high cost to us all.

People who own those houses ought to have to pay market rates for insuring them. Here endeth the sermon.
