Make a mental note of this and look up the range of electric cars in five years.

I’ve been in an engine plant and watched Honda spend $300 million to break down a combustion engine line piece by piece and replace it with an electric powertrain line.

Honda. Not Mercedes. Not BMW. The guys who scale everything for a teacher’s salary.

It’s happening. This is arguing over a decision that’s already been made.

    We’re having a 2017 argument in 2023.

Looks a little loose there. Probably needs a quarter-round of wedge and an air pressure adjustment.

oh, I know what’s happening. There are too many propped up financial incentives for it not to happen at this point.

i’m saying it’s not going to be very effective. And it’s not really going to help the environment that much.

That's what I don't think people who are screaming into the wind against EVs realize. It doesn't matter that they suck. It doesn't matter if ICE vehicles are better. It's that the transition is already under way — for better or, at least initially, likely for worse — and it'd be too cumbersome to turn back now. The government has mandated this in a lot of places, and sweetened the deal with handouts to push it along. Within 10 years or so you won't be able to buy a new ICE car.

It reminds of the climax of "Watchmen," when Ozymandias reveals his master plan after the heroes spend all this time unraveling the plot and trying to stop it.
"When were you going to do this?"
"I did it 45 minutes ago."
