Let's ask Norilsk how they refer to events that have a 0.1 percent chance of occurring in a given year.

It wasn't, and you know it wasn't. The context of the conversation is clear: it was regarding the decades-long megadrought likely exacerbated by climate change, not what governmental definitions of current on-the-ground water conditions are. Which was exactly the point of the Washington Post posted earlier: the water woes aren't over.

But if you want to reduce it to semantics... congratulations, no drought!

Even for this site, the “Is California still in a drought?” argument might be the dumbest argument I’ve ever seen.

And I’ve seen some seriously dumb ones.

Nothing will ever be dumber than scolding Californians to 'rake the forests' better - nothing.

I was doing a little volunteer work tonight in the newsroom for WORT-FM (89.9 in Madison WI) when reports came through that two tornadoes were tracked south of the city. Wisconsin had NEVER recorded a tornado in February prior to this evening;. I pulled together some storm reports on deadline, a specialty at my old haunt in Milwaukee.

    I ain't dead yet.

I was in a north Jersey restaurant some years ago for Patch when we got a Nixle alert for a possible tornado. I saw through the floor to ceiling windows the weather turn from fair to ugly inside of 30 seconds. Not eager to be cut to ribbons, I planned to dash into the walk-in refrigerator when calm returned. A few miles away, Dad swore he saw a funnel cloud.

No data yet, but an earthquake just hit Los Angeles.
That's after a 6.3 hit Hawaii about an hour ago.

EDIT: Sounds like the L.A. earthquake was only about a 4.5, but it lasted long enough for people to really feel it.
