Are we sure that's a wildfire, and not just Tuesday night in Portland?

That's tragic. Hoping for the best for your friend.

And in the Southern Plains, there are flood watches up. Fricking Mother Nature.

My office is now in downtown SF and its been eerie since I woke up. I thought the clock was off when the alarm went off. Felt like winter, not end of Summer. Said "where's the sun?"

All day (fortunate to have a window office) been looking out and thinking its dusk.

Weirdest day of my life (so far.)

Here's a photo I took around 4:20 this afternoon after I got off work of the SS Palo Alto, aka the Cement Ship. For folks not in sj.com/norcal, it was built in 1918 as a tanker during WW1, but has mostly seen use as a dance club and a fishing pier off the Santa Cruz County coast.

My view out my class window today. If you squint you can see the Diablo Range.

I guess it's gotten a little better. We can now see the orange outline of the sun and the AQI index which declares anything up to 500 particles per whatever "Hazardous" the highest level (much of the WV was above 500 during the day) is saying we are now safely back in the "normal" "Hazardous" range.

Today sort of looked like the sky projected in the planetarium. Really wish I was in a planetarium and not getting loopy off of wildfire smoke.

It's not The Martian, nor [IMG]
