I had to go dig through my browser history.

    It’s CalTopo.

    CalTopo - Backcountry Mapping Evolved

Based on the current map, East Troublesome is building south toward Granby (and right through the C Lazy U, which has its HQ at Willow Creek Reservoir), which dovetails with human reports. Red asterisks are probable current hotspots, orange was yesterday’s firestorm.

Update (sad) on the older couple who tried to wait it out in their basement: House is a total loss. This is their granddaughter:

SMH. That's so tough. I hope they asphyxiated instead of burning.

    Jesus.

This is so damn heartbreaking. Saturday night can't get here fast enough with this moisture. Looks like Estes is better tonight.

Worked a game tonight in the north Denver suburbs. Freezing rain, ice on the field. Wind chills in the teens. But .... that damn wind. Still drier and warmer in the mountains. It's late f-ing October.

This is why I never, ever, ever complain about rain and snow here. Because we get this kind of epic disaster.

The little fire blob to the east of the main fire is where it skipped across (I think) Sprague Pass and into Spruce Creek Canyon.

This is here only because it’s a cool photo.

There’s a herd of elk that sort of showed up in downtown Estes Park in late September. Can’t find the videos on Twitter now, but that herd crossed through the evacuation traffic jam on U.S. 34 last night as it got the hell out of town.

That was from the small front that came through last night. Not enough to douse it. Much stronger front tomorrow night will really have the winds howling beforehand. Could get up to 2 feet up there. Hopefully.

I have close friends who live in Oakland Hills. They're now in Miami.

Need another 18 hours to get that snow into the Rockies. Lots of wind ahead of that front.

The wind is is just going to make that eastern portion of the fire worse, and it’s already very active.

This likely will be another bad day. Just need to get to tonight and somehow hold on.
