YF, I would never drink one of these things, but I enjoy the pictures you show with the recipes. Keep it up!

    Strawberry Basil Smash:

    Strawberry Basil Smash Cocktail Ingredients:

    1.5 oz vodka
    5 strawberries, leafy ends removed
    5 fresh basil leaves
1 lemon (plus more for garnish)
    drizzle honey
    club soda

    Instructions:

In a mixing glass, thoroughly muddle strawberries with the basil.
Squeeze in the juice of one lemon and a drizzle of honey.
    Swirl with vodka.
Fill a collins glass with ice and pour your mixture into the glass. Top it off with club soda.
Mix by pouring the drink back into your mixing glass, then back into your drinking glass. Garnish with lemon round and a strawberry.

Note: If you aren’t down with chunks of smashed strawberry floating in your drink, you could strain the fruit, basil and vodka mixture before pouring it over ice.

I had a sip last weekend and it is fucking dreadful, just like all the other "honey" whiskys.

For my Canadian Friends, The Maple Leaf:

    The Maple Leaf

The most famous maple-syrup cocktail. The original recipe calls for Canadian whiskey, but we like it better with a good ol' American rye (or even a bourbon).
    2 ounces rye whiskey
    ¾ ounce maple syrup
    ¾ ounce lemon juice
Shake with ice and strain into a glass over ice.

I went with VO Canadian whiskey. Also very good.

    Porch Swing Sipper
Recipe adapted from Erin Hayes, Perennial Virant, Chicago

    Chamomile Syrup

    1 cup boiling water

    ¼ cup loose chamomile tea

    ¾ cup granulated sugar

    Cocktail

    8 large, ripe raspberries, divided

    ½ ounce chamomile syrup

    ½ ounce fresh lemon juice

    1½ ounces gin

    Ice

    Club soda

    DIRECTIONS

    1. Make the chamomile syrup: In a small bowl, combine the boiling water and chamomile tea. Steep for 5 minutes, then pour the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth and set over a small saucepan (discard the tea solids). Add the sugar to the pan and heat over medium heat, stirring, until the sugar dissolves, about 2 minutes. Set the syrup aside to cool, then transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate to chill (the syrup can be refrigerated for up to one month).

    2. Make the cocktail: In a cocktail shaker, add 6 raspberries and ½ ounce chilled chamomile syrup. Muddle thoroughly. Add the lemon juice and the gin and fill the shaker with ice. Cover and shake vigorously, then strain through a fine-mesh strainer and into an ice-filled Collins glass. Top with club soda and garnish with the 2 remaining raspberries.

½ cup of extra-ripe blueberries can be substituted for the raspberries.

Yield: One cocktail (plus ¾ cup chamomile syrup)
