    We've had a run on maple-syrup cocktails.
They're like tight ends in a fantasy football draft.

I bought some high end maple syrup at the farmers market and figured I use it.

It was good in the Maple Leaf, which I made a couple of months ago. The Farmhouse Margarita was very good.

    Tonight's was only so-so.

i am actually a little embarrassed about this but can anyone else offer any thoughts on my whiskey supply? i only recently discovered the joys of whiskey, about a year or so ago. i cut down on beer mostly because it was too fattening and switched to whiskey. i'm loving my couple of glasses of whiskey every night. but i'm not really obsessive about it and i haven't really been motivated enough to try anything other than johnnie walker. i have had black, double black, blue, green and gold. (i've had red but it tastes like robitussin).

blue clearly seems like the best and it's absurdly fucking expensive. not sure i could distinguish between gold and green in a blind taste test. both are smooth although green has a higher alcohol content. black is good and tastes identical to the other ones i occasionally drink like chivas 12-year. double black - i can't really see anything special about it compared with black.

    Johnnie Walker is Scotch.

You could also try bourbon, which is an American corn whiskey, and Irish whiskey.

Johnnie Walker Blue is very nice.

Did a "freshman" mistake this week in the aftermath of the election, went 2 martinis to start the night then switched to whiskey for the next 3. WRONG MOVE. (Damn and I'm almost 50.) Never switch.

The daughter's boyfriend loves whiskey. For regular occasions, he prefers Maker's Mark. They have a "special" one that I got him for his birthday that he especially liked. He also likes Noah's Mill for special occasions. (I make these recommendations based on what I've seen a whiskey drinker drink, not really knowing how bourbon and whiskey or the combined bourbon whiskey differ.)
