I've become a recent fan of these steakhouse staples, like the Manhattan. Called a Side Car. Apologies to anyone who posted about this already. Perfect before a porterhouse, cheddar twice baked spud and some creamed spinach.

    ice cubes
1/2 fluid ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 fluid ounce Cointreau or triple sec
    1 fluid ounce brandy
    1 lemon wedge

Honey Syrup is 3 parts honey, and one part HOT water.

Mix together and store in a glass bottle.

    This isn't really a thread. It's a YF blog.

    Pimms Cup is now trendy?

Seriously? Where have you people been?

I had my first Pimms about 30 years ago. It's a standard cocktail for God's sakes.

It's about as new as Clark's Desert Boots

Yeah, but you're part of the British realm. Of course the Pimm's cup is old hat for you.

    Watermelon Mojito:

    Watermelon Mojito
    makes one cocktail

2 ounces rum (Tabla uses Cruzan dark, 2-year aged, but white may also be used)
    1 ounce fresh lime juice
    1 ounce simple syrup
    6-8 mint leaves
3 1/2 ounces watermelon flesh, cut into cubes

Muddle watermelon and mint in a cocktail shaker or mixing glass. Add rum, lime juice, and simple syrup, and shake well with ice. Pour (without straining) into a double rocks glass.

I went to a "Speakeasy" in DC a couple of months ago. I was really excited at the prospect of going to a place that specialized in upscale cocktails and drinking something a little more complex than a rum and Coke. However, I must admit, I was pretty disappointed with most of my drinks. For $12-15 a piece, I didn't really felt like the drinks were all that superb. When you add in the complete and utter pretension of the place, it was a thoroughly underwhelming experience. I guess I'm a simple kind of guy.
