Is anyone going to be surprised if UNC gets a top 4 seed in the NIT and a bunch of home games? Not me.

    Does it really matter?

I mean, theoretically to get a top four seed in the NIT you have to be 66 through 82 and I would say they are clearly in that range

I heard that a year Kansas makes the Final Four, since 1986, has always included a win in Columbia.

I'd rather win the NIT than get bounced in the 1st round of the NCAAs

NCAA has for sure, the top 35 or 36 teams in the country. Sometimes more, almost never less.
The NIT has a much more competitive field/competitive games in the early rounds.
Both tourneys have good teams and withthe NIT in existence, at least the top 70 or so teams are guaranteed to get to play in postseason.
We all know NCAA always has at least 20 teams who ought to be NIT participants, but get to Dance based on their play in conference tourneys.
Congrats to Cornell for doing the deal and being rewarded for what counts most, the regular season.
I have been converted to thinking that all conferences shouldn't follow what Ivy League does.
    Again, it's all about money.

There is a good chance, a very good chance, UNC will not accept a NIT bid unless forced to by the NCAA

Stans is just using 'yab's logic that going deep in the NIT is better than losing in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Except that I don't have any confidence that State will go deep in the NIT either.

Roy Williams has already said that he will accept an NIT bid. He's not good enough to be that proud this year.

Wichita State hoping to make some bubble teams even more nervous.

Gregg Marshall hopes so. Kinda funny that Winthrop is back in the NCAAs, while Wichita State will need a Shocker or two to do the same.

How could the NCAA force a team into accepting an NIT bid. Isn't it supposed to be an invitation?
