That O'Bannon team was 95, I believe, with Arkansas winning in '94 and UNC beating Webber and the Fab Five in '93.

And yeah, Childress was damn good that year. If we're talking conference tournament runs, Gerry McNamara (in his senior season) carrying a mediocre Syracuse team from being on the bubble to being a 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament. They were clearly worn out as they lost their first Tournament game, but McNamara put that team on his back for four games in four days at the Garden.

I might have put Aminu over Singler.

Again, a point worthy of debate either way. Aminu deserves a lot of kudos, but I wonder if Wake's recent nosedive - in which Aminu disappeared at times - cost him the spot, giving Singler the nod?

Greatest one-man NCAA Tournament show: Danny Manning for Kansas in 1988.

Let me change what I said ...
Ole Miss is way ahead of Fla. in terms of overall record and recent streak and overall roster talent.
They should get an NCAA bid ahead of the Gators, if things are done as they should.
Ole Miss is a good team.

Childress and Manning are tough to top for conference and NCAA picks.

For a single game, I would go with Bird knocking out DePaul and Aguirre in the Final Four. It will probably be replayed on Classic.

Didn't Wittenburg have an amazing stretch. Sam, you are the State expert. Am I remembering that correctly?

Except for some guy from Princeton named Bradley. Or some guy from Notre Dame named Austin Carr.

    Or Glen Rice at Michigan.

I must be missing something major for people to be considering UConn closer to the bubble than South Florida.

USF finished 9-9 in conference and beat the Huskies in its final regular season game on Saturday.

UConn finished 7-11 in conference, and have lost their last three games in picking up the No.12 seed for the Big East tounamet.

    What am I missing here?

People going off name recognition instead of actually taking a look at the numbers. I think USF is the most likely candidate, with Seton Hall being next, for a Big East team to make it after the top 8 which looks pretty secure.

    Bird, by far.
    With Magic at his heels.
Bird did more, with less talent around him.
Maravich, for instance, never played in an NCAA Tourney.
