Iowa State had to win that game vs. Iowa. Greg McDermott's seat would have been turned to 'mild heat' if he didn't. UNI is clearly the best team Iowa, after working Iowa and ISU over.

My god is UCLA bad. Very bad.

Steve Physioc and Marques Johnson, on the TV call, claim with some weightroom work the Bruins can be beasts next year for Coach Howland.

Physioc? Damn, I watched him call Pac-10 games when I was in junior high. Those Saturday afternoon games on, IIRC, Pilot TV or whatever, kept me occupied always.

Bill Walton's up in the suite with Coach Wooden. Nice.

Strength training? Maybe Steve and Marques need to add "defensive work" as something UCLA can work on as well.

Georgetown handled Washington Huskies in first game of the Wooden Classic, BTW.

    Wooden is 99.
    Amazing man.

The decline of that program is sad. From about 1978 to 1995 you could put them right there with Duke, Kentucky, Kansas and UNC as a national powerhouse with 4 Final Fours, an NCAA title, a runner-up and at least 3 other Elite Eight appearances in that period. They'll be lucky to win 2 games in the SEC.

When he goes, it'll be one of those celebrity (I hate to use the word on him, but he is) deaths that will just bug me for a while.

    Like when Paul Newman died.

Love John Wooden and what he represents and how he's carried himself.

Pretty impressive week for K-State, beating Xavier and UNLV both by double digits.

Less than a minute to go in the second OT, Xavier up 81-79.
