Cornell's a good team. Two straight years in the tourney. Probably a good game for Kansas, which was (rightfully) feeling pretty good after that Temple game.

Part of it might have been a Temple hangover, but Cornell sure is a good team. Games against Temple and Cornell (slow-down, deliberate tempos) this past week will prepare them for someone they might face come March. Just glad they got past this one.

Next up, at Tennessee on Sunday afternoon.

Well, if they are going to Knoxville to play that band of thugs, hopefully for their sake as part of their uniform they were given bullet proof vests.....

You know, I heard a lot how Oregon State was supposed to be better this season ... and I've seen some bad losses by power conference teams. But losing by 51 at home to Seattle University? Just wow.

    Elgin Baylor must have played.

    Damn.

Seattle beat them so badly that Obama fell two points in the polls.

Bailout might be easy for Beavers, with the conference play starting up.
    UCLA's down, anyway.

Big opener Saturday in the SEC as No. 14 Ole Miss hosts preseason West favorite Mississippi State.
State (12-3) and Ole Miss (12-2) each have roster depth, with Ole Miss perhaps a bit deeper.
MSU's Rick Stansbury is 16-7 all-time against rival Ole Miss.
(SEC Network at 12:30 central time is the only TV coverage if anyone is interested)

    Until the final 2 minutes.

They beat UT and OU back-to-back a year ago and proceeded to crap the bed in a pathetically-weak SEC. Maybe with Fortson back they can go 9-7 in the SEC, break .500 overall and earn an NIT bid.

They and the fans always get jacked-up for Texas anyway. Old rivalries are hard to kill.

    MSU 23, Ole Miss 20 @ 7:30 1st
DirecTV coverage is limited but I found this game on Comcast Sports Net - California
    Go figure.
Both teams with several swats underneath early on.
    This series is brutal.

EDIT: 42-37 Ole Miss at half
EDIT: 62-61 Ole Miss at 8 min. media timeout 2nd
EDIT: State by 2 with 3 mins to play.

There was talk earlier on in this thread about Duke being different this year. Watching this game against GT, I don't see anything different. Win or lose this game, it's still a team that struggles against super athletic teams with size that can pressure them up-and-down the court. Just the type of team that Duke has struggled against in recent years (the LSU team with Tyrus Thomas when Duke was a 1 seed and LSU was a 4 seed comes immediately to mind).

Oh, and now with Tyler Smith gone (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/01/08/AR2010010802264.html) Tennessee is done.

When was Zoubek of Duke adopted by the Hill People?

Was he this much of an awkward barbarian last season?
