The same could be asked of you. (Dre can handle his own fights, but dude ... are you really trying to ask for it?)

    You know Dre well, huh?
Thanks for enlightening me on his "ring savvy."
I'll tell you and whoever else wants to hear it, I'll post about whatever school or team or topic I feel like.
When someone makes a crap comment like he made, I'm gonna respond.
I can handle my shit, too. Trust me.

Dre has forgotten more about basketball than the knowledge you tend to display here. And do you really think I'd speak for a fan of Chapel Hill if I didn't really mean it?

You're sinking yourself. For you own sake, please stop.

First off, thanks to Sam for the kind words. Second, I apologize for taking part in this pissing match on what is usually a really good thread.

Let's get back to basketball, shall we? Reynolds had a very impressive showing for 'Nova tonight. They don't have enough size for me to think they can win the championship, but with how good their guards are you can't count 'Nova out of any game.

I want to avoid pissing matches, too. I apologize.
Pitt/Nova was a fantastic tourney game last year in the weekend prior to the Final Four.
Big East has some tough-as-nails teams.
Thank God there's a tourney at the end of the season to decide a national champ.
Lots of good teams out there.

I'm sure I will get some people riled up but if you ask me, Villanova is the only Big East team that looks like it has a prayer of making it to the Final Four. The Wildcats have great guard play, play tough defense and even though they don't have big guys, they play very physical and don't get pushed around.

The rest of the league is laughable....
Syracuse doesn't play hard enough all the time and has too many defensive lapses.
    West Virginia's guards suck.
    UConn doesn't shoot consistently enough.
Louisville will struggle to make the field.
Pitt doesn't have good enough players.
Cincinnati is coached by a moron.
Notre Dame is a borderline NCAA team.
Ditto for Georgetown, a team that better learn how to play a little more exciting brand of basketball if JT III wants to keep inking big name recruits.
Marquette, DePaul, Seton Hall, Rutgers, South Florida, St Johns, Providence forget about it, they won't even be in the tournament.

That league is extremely overrated this year and frankly I'd say will be lucky to get six teams in the field by the time it is all said and done.

I think Villanova has the best chance. However, I think Syracuse with Johnson, Onuaku and Rautins has a very good shot as well. Wesley Johnson has impressed the hell out of me the times I've seen him play. WVU's guards don't suck, it's more that Bryant is inexperienced and was hurt early in the season.

Georgetown impressed me against UCONN by coming back and winning that.

West Virginia's guards aren't good or in the case of Joe Mazzula, aren't healthy, or in the case of Truck Bryant, aren't very fucking smart.

At any rate, with that guard play and a guy as erratic as Ebanks as their star, the Mountaineers are going to be lucky to get to the Sweet 16

Two cool things for this old IUPUI alum at the Jan. 14 game at Conseco Fieldhouse against Oral Roberts.

First, Coach Ron Hunter will again go shoeless for Samartian's Feet, which provides shoes for the shoeless. His own work in this has resulted in more than 100,000 pairs of shoes given out, as well as inspiring other coaches to go barefoot as well for the cause. You can donate here:

Also, the pep band will play the old Metros fight song that was commissioned by the Sagamore, my old college paper, in 1989, when I was still doing some work there. (Rick Morwick, sports editor of the Daily Journal in Franklin, Ind., did the commissioning.) The fight song was dropped when the school went D-I and became the Jaguars, but it's a nice touch to bring it back for one night. I doubt anyone will know it, but who cares?

Any other year Zag, I'd probably agree with you. But in this, the year of shite-BCS hoops, don't be surprised if the Big East squeezes out eight or nine.

Pac-10 -- horrific. On the verge of being a 1-bid league.
SEC -- Kentucky, Vandy (even though they suck), UT in. Maybe Ole Miss or Cowbell U
    Big 10 -- Sparty, 'Sconnie, Pur-don't ... 2 of these four -- ohio state, illinois, north-worst-ern, minnesota
ACC -- UNC, Duke, Tech, FSU ... Clemson?, Wake?, Miami?, Murriland?

And then there's the fraud-fest that is the Big 12 -- Kansas, Texas and the 10 jokers. Kansas State is all by itself as the upper-middle class. They'll get another, two at the most -- A&M, Baylor, Mizzou, Texas Tech are in that group.

So that's 1+4+5+6+4 = 20, just going on the 50 percent rule of guesstimation. Add in your requisite six mid-majors, and voila! 8 for the Big East.
