You know what is getting so tired - these snot nosed fanboys coming around here trying to tell us all how much they know and how little we know.

Look dude - how many times have you seen West Virginia play live this year? On television? How about Georgetown? Because I've seen them both play live, the Mountaineers, four times and being as I live in a Big East market with one of the better teams, I get to see plenty of all the teams in that league.

So don't tell me what I know and what I don't know.

Yes, Joe Mazzula is playing - -he is playing with one arm and he is clearly not the same player he was before the surgery. To argue that is foolish.

Yes, DeSean Butler plays point guard often, by default, because he isn't a natural or true point guard and his best position is probably the three (in fact, look at most draft projections on Butler they have him as a small forward) - in other words, the Mountaineers don't have a true point guard, they have a forward trying to play that position.

So again, I'll say it, West Virginia's guards aren't very good but let me clarify since FloridaNewbie clearly doesn't understand a thing about basketball -- they are not very good at playing the actual position of guard and that is not a surprise if you know anything at all about the history of Bob Huggins teams.

In fact one of the reasons Huggins has 600 wins, 15 NCAA appearances and only one Final Four is this -- name the NBA-caliber guards not named Nick Van Exel he's produced?

Hmmm, let's see..... there was, and, um, and well, um, Danny Fortson? Dontonio Wingfield? Ruben Patterson? Corie Blount?

That's right genius, Bob Huggins teams are always built the same way and this one is no different - around big men and bruising defense. That - the way they play - and looking at the list of choir boys I just read off, well, that's why he has the nickname Thuggins.

But yeah, I forgot, you know what you are talking about........ ::)

Oh but, I almost forgot this gem -- Georgetown had a great recruiting class, so that means they are the greatest team ever!!

Who gives a rat's ass about their recruiting class -- Georgetown will make the tournament, but they have some serious flaws which will prevent them from doing much once they get there.

The Valley is a two-bid league, at best.

UNI is a lock if it keeps doing what its been doing. Wichita State (15-2 with a win over Texas Tech) has a better shot than Missouri State, which lost to Drake last night and is .500 in conference.

Illinois State would be in the mix, but their non-con schedule is God awful. Indiana State's on the fringe, but it needs to win at least 12 conference games, which it won't do given its current injury issues.

If UNI wins the MVC tourney and Wichita comes down to earth, it's more than conceivable that the MVC is a one-bidder again.

  3. well Zag,

since I watch EVERY G'town game, what flaws to they have that's sooooooooo serious that they won't do shit once they get into the tournament? I'm interested to hear this one.

Truthfully, I could give a shit about West Virginia. Their guard play is fine. You don't seem to think so. And Butler's playing at the point because Huggins has always loved big guards, not because Truck did anything so wrong.

  4. And this year's west virginia team isn't built around bigs, it's built around wings. Two of the best in the country to be specific. And you're the one who called Devin Ebanks overrated? lmao!!!

Once again. You don't know what the hell you're talking about......lmao!!!

    Oh really - Devin Ebanks?

Did I call him overrated, or did I say he was too erratic?

Hmmm, would that be the same Devin Ebanks who was given a few days off at the beginning of the season because, well, yeah, Huggins didn't like his effort and thought he wasn't playing as well as he can? Oh no, that's right, he needed time off for "personal reasons"..... ::)

Again, stop showing your ass, you have no clue about basketball and you certainly have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to West Virginia, Huggins and what will hold them back.

Oh wait, I almost forgot -- Georgetown had a good recruiting class so they are clearly headed for the Final Four baby....... ::)

Georgetown's style is no longer the novelty that it was in 06-07, and the Hoyas don't have the point forward that they need to run the JTIII offense. Jeff Green excelled in that role; DaJuan Summers sputtered. Instead, Georgetown has three or four guys who could play anywhere and a system that limits what they can do.

I don't think Zag is far off at all for saying Georgetown isn't exactly Final Four material. I'd like to see the Hoyas win on the road at Nova, Pitt, Syracuse or WVU later this year before deciding that they are anything special.

    And please stop saying "lmao!!!"

I also think the point that Zag was making is that Georgetown will get recruits now. But if it keeps playing a stagnant offense that doesn't show off any big-time player's talents, eventually JTIII will run out of good players.

Tony Bennett still on pace to go undefeated in ACC play his entire career. UVa 82, GT 75.

Man, it is incredible what Pitt is doing this year. The Panthers beat UConn by 10 tonight.

I'm more of a WVU fan, but if Jamie Dixon doesn't get serious consideration for coach of the year they should simply get rid of the award.

  11. Zag,

I've played more basketball and forgotten more basketball than you will ever know.

    Dc,

Greg Monroe is our point forward. I just love how people get on G'town because their "style", when that "style" wins every year.

The system doesn't limit them. Instead, it gets them ready for the next level. Hibbert and Green were both ready to contribute right away. Summers sputtered because he didn't buy into the system, didn't want to play the four, saw himself as a scoring three and had one foot out the door all season last year. And that greatly contributed to G'town's demise last season.

The Hoyas, this year, have arguably the best backcourt in the Big East in Chris Wright and Austin Freeman. Monroe's Monroe, and Julian Vaughn has stepped up bigtime.

But I'm still waiting for Zag to answer my question as to what weaknesses G'town has that will make them so susceptible to an early round exit in the NCAA tournament.
