If you're curious as to why mid-major ranks so much higher in the coaches' poll than the media poll, here is one theory: 25 out of the 31 coaches (er, SIDs or administrative assistants) in that poll are from mid-majors. They're listed here:

Thanks for the link, Bob. That helps explain about both Butler and Gonzaga being higher in the USA Today poll vs. AP.

I know I've been pumping up the Zags on here, and I think Gonzaga can win a couple tournament games this year, but 10th best in the country is a BIG stretch.

Frank Martin got his second technical of his career against Colorado (which I found insane because I've seen Frank seriously lose his cool). He's passionate. He's a firecracker and he has youthful enthusiasm and he's gotten a LOT out of these kids. They love playing for him, the student section loves coming to watch and the players and Frank feed off of it. Just because he does have the ability to lose his cool completely (and how many of us don't?) doesn't mean he isn't a good coach. He knows how to get production out of his players. And these players have a lot of love for him and a lot of love for K-State.

One of the topics on PTI today....

New Jersey Nets vs. Kentucky Wildcats.

    Who wins?

    Nets vs. Kentucky? Really?

The worst NBA team will always crush the best college team.

Another huuuuge road win for Mason tonight, this time at Softstra. Even better was watching Charles Jenkins openly weep on the bench after fouling out with Mason up, oh, I don't know, 14 points? Or was it 16 points? I'll defer to BYH, who was in the hizzy. :) :)

Clemson pisses down its leg in the waning seconds, and all is right with the world.

In a four-game span of Duke, Virginia, North Carolina and Clemson, who would have figured the only game Georgia Tech would lose would be to the Hoos?

Tennessee on the road over Bama tonight.
Cameras zoomed in on Chism as I started watching late.
Sound was down at Chili's Restaurant.
    Tennessee won by about 7

Take away Devin Harris from the Nets and that might be a pretty good game.

And Kentucky might be undefeated, but with a SOS at 149 according to Pomeroy (BYU, for reference, is 160th with KU and Texas both in the 90s), the Wildcats have some proving to do before they're seen as the best team in the country.
