If they split the season series and have only one or two other conference losses, or even run the table in the Ivy, something that wouldn't be all that far fetched considering how good Cornell and Harvard are, it'd be a joke if they both don't make it.

Cornell is 16-3 with marquee wins to its name, and Harvard is 13-3. Say Harvard wins the Ivy League title. There's no way you snub Cornell if you're the Selection Committee. Cornell has an RPI of 37, Harvard a respectable 63.

    Gotta have them in.

Right now only one bracket has both in, but if your best-case scans (Harvard beats Cornell twice or they split and neither lose in-conference the rest of the way), it's not unreasonable at all.

At risk of going all Deeper_Background, I never saw this posted on here last week ...

    http://www.nola.com/uno/index.ssf/2010/01/sun_belt_conference_accepts_un.html

UNO not only withdraws from the Sun Belt, but from Division I athletics entirely. Wayne Cooper, Ervin Johnson and Ladell Eackles all weep.

President Obama sitting courtside for Duke and Georgetown - two squads destined for Sweet 16 status.

    Shit.

How am I not seeing this game? I think I have Boston State verses ClemTech or some meh ACC clash instead.

EDIT: Holy shit. Obama just changed Raycom coverage. That's tougher than getting Health Care Reform passed.

I can't believe DePaul might hang on and beat Syracuse, but that's looking more likely. Hmmmm.

'Cuse hung on at the end. Walker had a good look from three in the final seconds for Depaul, but it missed pretty badly.

I'm guessing with that performance, if KU loses, Villanova might get the nod over Syracuse for No. 1.

Villanova would have gotten the nod anyway in my book. Their loss -- at Temple -- was better than Syracuse loss -- at home to Pitt.

KU still gets the first crack at it, though.

Not sure I'm buying all of this 'Octagon of Doom' bullshit at K-State, especially for tonight's game. Now, I dislike me some Beaker, but when you only beat them once in Manhattan in like a 20-some year span... that nickname just rings hollow. Plus, Frank Martin's head might literally explode at some point tonight, just because.

Ogilvy's only a junior? Jeez, it seems like he's been there since like 2002.

College basketball officiating has been a complete abortion this year.

Louisville was absolutely jobbed today in Charleston, watching two consecutive balls go off West By God hands, with WV getting the ball both times.

There have been 28 fouls called in the first half in Lexington. Four of Kentucky's five starters have two fouls. Likewise for Vandy. In the last five minutes, I don't think there were two consecutive possessions without a foul.

Those are just two examples. But college officiating is, in short, horrendous. Too many of these guys (I'm looking at you, Doug Shows) think fans show up to watch them officiate. If a game is getting out of hand, call the foul. But there are so many ticky-tacks called, it makes the games unenjoyable.
