Yea, I'm not justifying it. I'm just saying, they're North Carolina. Cal is Cal. A one-and-done tourney team from last year with some experience. The No. 12 team in the country? Just seemed a little crazy to me after watching them get their asses handed to them two days in a row.

I don't know, but that NBA'esque Kentucky team sure handled Sam Houston State the other day.

First time they play someone with some studs on defense, they're gonna take an ass whipping.

Still, by March, that could be one hell of a team.

I'm taking Phelps and hedging my bets on the Bulldogs of Wayne Kreklow U.

The early part of the season is almost always like this as even most of the top teams have a bunch of young guys getting acclimated. We won't really know how good most of these teams are until about mid-January.

    Or perhaps No. 4 Kentucky?

The Cats just can't defend. If they can't pick up their defensive play, I see them getting pounded in December and early January.

How good is The Citadel and Maryland-Eastern Shore?

Tell me they are good enough to beat a mid-major. Please tell me that.

Otherwise, it could be another long season for the alma mater.

You're going to want to go ahead and get in the crash position and stay there for a few months, I'm afraid.

The Citadel is the third best team ... in Charleston. And it's entirely possible we've got a prep team or two that could give them a run.

Eh, I pretty much figured that. I don't pay much attention to the basketball team anyway. They haven't lost to Md-Eastern Shore (that could happen tonight).

But hey, the basketball team has posted more wins than the football season this year. :D

My old employer dismantled Oklahoma last night. It may be that Oklahoma isn't quite as good as ranked but it's still a hell of a win. There's a lot more about working there that I don't miss, but I definitely miss those kids. A good group. They laid an egg at Western Michigan last week so I feared something ugly last night. Nope.

I wouldn't want to be Tom Crean right now. Three losses to San Juan, including one to my alma mater, the comparative Chaminade of that field.

Is Ole Miss supposed to be hanging around with Nova like this is or will they eventually get blown out in the second half? How good are they?
