From "Sing a Song of College Girls":

Sing a song of college days,
and tell me which is best,
    Northwestern for her pretty girls,
    Purdue among the rest . . .

    Still true.

    Doug Wojcik fired at Tulsa.

I imagine Doug Wojcik will land on his feet this offseason. I can't decide if his firing is a case of unrealistic expectations or the penalty of not making the NCAA tournament in seven seasons, even if the team is pretty good five of those seven seasons.

Saw a tweet naming UAB's Mike Davis a candidate for Nebraska. Any truth to the rumor?

It appears to me it was both. Tulsa's attendance kept dwindling each year to a point where about 3500 was the average.

Mike Davis to Nebraska? I would be stunned if that happened (but I highly doubt that's going to happen any way).

    South Carolina - open
    SMU - open

Marc and I were talking earlier. Neither of us clued in to the fact that Doherty was even at SMU. And had been for SIX YEARS. I could have sat here six years trying to guess the SMU coach. Oops. Former SMU coach.

There were a few trend stories written in the past two or three years about how Conference USA has become a land of fallen power-conference coaches: Doherty, Ben Braun, Larry Eustachy, Mike Davis, Tim Floyd, Jeff Lebo, formerly Tom Penders. That's probably the context in which he was brought up most often.
