For UNC, if it's not Doherty, it's got to be Lebo. Sons played for him...Jim Baron? Doesn't seem high-profile enough.

Speaking of Baron, I'm hearing that Danny Hurley will replace him at Rhode Island. Haven't seen anything official yet, though.

Don't think it's been mentioned yet and it will barely register on the national scene. But Ernie Ziegler is out at Central Michigan.

And players may be leaving as well.

Ziegler's son was CMU's leading scorer. He had tweeted something like it's been real, Central. Couple other players also tweeted cryptic tweets about leaving.

Ziegler's tweet was removed pretty quickly.

Trey was highly recruited and there's probably no way he ends up in the MAC if it wasn't for the family connection.

So he'll be a nice pick-up for somebody.

Rhode Island not willing to confirm a hire of Danny Hurley.

I'm guessing they're A) Still dotting the i's and crossing the t's or B) Waiting until Monday when the news isn't competing against the NCAA Tourney.

Can't believe I'm the first one to bring up Rick Stansbury's "retirement" at Mississippi State. Inside scoop says he was told his choices were retire or be fired.

State could be a fairly attractive job. Yes, Starkville is the middle of BF Egypt, but the Hump's a nice arena and they take hoops seriously there.

Did State get fed up with the constant recruitment of questionable characters? When Moultrie is your "good" citizen, that's remarkable.

I think Renardo Sidney was the last straw for State fans. It's one thing to recruit thugs when you win with them, but when you recruit guys like Sidney then go one-and-done in the NIT (in front of a half-empty arena, I might add), well fans aren't gonna be happy.

Hollywood couldn't come up with a character that represents the unmotivated, self-centered athlete with a sense of entitlement that is better than the real-life Renardo Sidney.

Tommy Craggs' 2008 feature on Renardo Sidney reads as uncannily prescient.
