I have heard Scott Drew's name tossed around at Illinois. His dad was respected in the region and he's winning at a school where you aren't supposed to win (also, he's cheating his ass off, if you believe what many have been saying).

It'll be interesting if there's pressure to hard after someone like Drew, who's won big at a major conference school.

Rumors are running rampant on Twitter about how Martin and K-State AD John Currie weren't getting along...at all.

    It's UK. Kansas is KU.

Wouldn't be surprised if Martin was contacted and said no. I also think Tennessee would have the financial means to outbid Illinois if need by. Tennessee also has better facilities.

Martin and Currie do not get along for shit.

I wouldnt be surprised that Martin told Chancellors "He goes or I go".

If that's the case, then I think Currie is out.

If Currie is a Bill Snyder guy Martin isn't going to win that fight.

This. And I'm guessing he's a Bill Snyder guy since I doubt anyone gets that role without being a Bill Snyder guy

I'm a little surprised Alford hasn't had his name in play for any of the high-major jobs. I see his youngest son committed to New Mexico today, so with both of his boys on the team, I guess he's fine with where he's at. I always expected him to try and take another shot at a bigger-name program.

I'm real surprised his top assistant (Craig Neal) hasn't gotten a shot somewhere to lead his own program.

After I posted I talked to a K-State source who said Currie isn't a Snyder guy (turns out they don't get along so well) and that this Martin thing could mean Currie's job. I wouldn't be surprised if by tomorrow morning Currie's out and Martin stays at KState.

Apparently KState president Kirk Schulz is getting quite a bit of pressure from boosters to intercede (and quickly) to save Martin.

Currie apparently stepped in on Snyder and told him he couldn't hire Jim Leavitt as DC. I would imagine that that wouldn't endear him to Snyder too much. Snyder doesn't much like being told what he can and cannot do.

If Snyder were to intercede and say that Currie goes, Currie would go. I just don't know if Martin has that kind of leverage yet.

A bit of it also has to be Martin was elevated from an assistant position when Huggins left. I have to think there is a difference when you are brought in to a program from the outside instead of just sliding over to the top chair.
